The French are very good at luxury menswear basics. They have an effortlessness way of putting things together and making everything work seamlessly. One men’s label that didn’t register on my ChicGeek radar was Octobre. The brother brand of the much feted Sézane, it recently celebrated its 7th anniversary.
Parisian cult favourite brand Sézane, founded by Morgane Sezalory, has a big female fan club. Octobre, founded in 2016, is a brand based on responsible stock volumes, in keeping with a lean production model. The men’s brand aims for no overproduction and fair, accessible prices. All of the brand’s Tier 1 ateliers are audited by independent experts to ensure compliance with its code of ethics and the standards set.
The idea was simple: to get back to the basics of menswear, the distinctive pieces that are always needed and that we take pleasure in rediscovering year after year, the pieces we live with, that stand the test of time.
On the 21st of every month, 10% of Octobre’s profits and 100% of the proceeds from a dedicated ‘solidarity’ piece, are donated to projects that fund concrete actions in favour of access to education, culture & equal opportunities for children around the world. Since 2018, Sézane and Octobre have donated over 5 million euros.
The brand produces high quality menswear essentials such as denim, shirts, blazers, coats and accessories. The Anniversary collection, marking its 7th Birthday and out now, features must-have wardrobe essentials, including outerwear, accessories, and denim.
Prices are around £400 for coats, £150 for knits and trousers, and £70 for caps.
The London Octobre store is located in Marylebone.
